Pay me in memories
Because they’ll be all I have when the curtain draws;
Money won’t matter in the final beat
Life flashing before my eyes
I don’t want to see day after day all looking the same
I want laughter and diversity and sorrow and pain
Jewels are worth nothing, wealth is a dream
But I’ll treasure the moments that make me feel real
So pay me in memories;
Pay me with joy, with tears, my hopes and my fears
A flash and a bang
The moments to say yes, moments to say no
Times when I’ll want to just be on my own
I don’t want a cubicle and the richness it brings;
Because when I shut my eyes
I won’t care for such things.
